Hi,
Elementary POS offers a different way:
You can use three Android devices:
1) Main cash register.
2) A drink order display at the bar counter.
3) A food order display at the food counter.
The customer pays at the main cash register and gets a receipt with the bill number.
The order display instantly displays the current order. The customer comes to the food counter and announces their bill number. This lets the staff know that the customer with the bill number can pick up their food. The advantage is that the staff can prepare the drink or food before the customer arrives.
How to set it up:
1) Order Display: In the app, select Menu->"View orders". If you want to display only drinks for example, select context menu->"Settings" and select a color, for example blue if drinks are a sale item with blue color.
2) At the main cash register: Menu->"Settings"->"Creating orders": "Create order when an item is added to the Bill or a new Receipt is created."
3) Optional: You can also customize the appearance of the receipt to make the bill number clearly visible. The setting is in the Elementary POS office. Menu->"Company settings"->"Receipt settings"->"Modify custom receipt".
Put the following text at the beginning of the receipt:
[center_large] {bill_name}
Then the name of the bill will be written in a large font on the receipt.
The app has different modes on how to use the order display, I recommend exploring the order display settings.
